Housing Officers - Housing Management Team - 8 North Ness

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a capable and motivated individual to join our Housing Services Team. In a challenging and varied role, you will provide effective housing management and allocation service for all Shetland Islands Council’s housing stock and for the provision of services to homeless people.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking all required work in relation to tenancy management, homelessness, application management and tenant participation, including carrying out comprehensive assessments of housing need and providing housing advice and information across all tenures to a wide variety of audiences.
As the successful candidate, you will need to have a professional approach, clear customer focus and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team. You will have a strong and demonstrable understanding of people from diverse cultural backgrounds and a desire to establish a good rapport and understanding of their needs.
You should also have experience in Housing Management or related discipline, e.g. Health Service, Social Work, Community Work; other front line public service.

* Career graded post with salary and progression linked to experience and qualifications; where applicable, qualifications may be fully funded.
Contract and Other Details
* The grade of this post is H/I.
* Salary shown includes Distant Islands Allowance (pro rata).
* 1 x Permanent Full Time post (37 hours/week, 52.18 weeks/year).
* 1 x Temporary Full Time post (37 hours/week, 52.18 weeks/year) for approximately 12 months (maternity cover).
* A relocation package does not apply; interview expenses may be paid from within Shetland.
* Two referees who are not related to you are required during the application process.
