SEND Support Assistant Location: Gateshead Working hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm Contract type: Long term, temporary Leader Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Support Assistant to join a truly exceptional SEND primary school. The school delivers a highly personalised curriculum, carefully tailored to each pupil’s individual needs and interests. This role would suit someone with experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly those with PMLD, SLD or physical difficulties. You will bring patience, resilience and a calm, nurturing approach, along with the ability to communicate confidently and build positive relationships with pupils and staff. A strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare is essential. You should also feel comfortable supporting pupils with personal care and mobility needs, with full training provided. As a Support Assistant, your role will involve assisting pupils with their learning activities, promoting independence, encouraging engagement, and helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels valued and able to succeed. You will also contribute to the implementation of individual education plans and behaviour support strategies, ensuring that each pupil receives the tailored support they require to thrive.
