Purpose of the Role
To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate and individual clients. The role serves as the bridge between the bank’s offerings and client needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long‑term success.
Accountabilities
* Manage client relationships to identify financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance; support analysis of data from investment portfolios and cash flow to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
* Research industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
* Design customised solutions addressing client needs, integrating a range of bank products and services.
* Communicate value proposition of solutions, justify recommendations, and negotiate beneficial terms for client and bank.
* Provide guidance on financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk and wealth management strategies, and market trend updates.
* Assess financial, legal, and operational risks in client relationships; implement measures to minimise potential losses.
* Document all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability; convey findings to support product development and bank strategy.
* Monitor client satisfaction, revenue, and other metrics to evaluate effectiveness of relationship management efforts.
Director Expectations
* Manage a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives, influencing policy, and overseeing complex projects.
* Lead a large team or sub‑function, embedding a performance culture; for individual contributors, lead organisation‑wide projects and act as a deep technical expert.
* Provide expert advice to senior management, influencing decisions across functions.
* Coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub‑function.
* Escalate policy breaches appropriately and foster compliance, ensuring regulations are observed.
* Engage with external regulators and advocacy groups to monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays when appropriate.
* Demonstrate knowledge of integration between the function and business division, aligning with overall business objectives.
* Maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline.
* Employ interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve complex, sensitive problems.
* Exercise management authority for significant decisions and strategic recommendations.
* Negotiate with senior stakeholders internally and externally.
* Act as principal point of contact for key clients and counterparts in other functions/divisions.
* Serve as spokesperson for the function and business division.
