Position: Fire Safety & Health and Safety Manager at Nottingham City Council
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Worker Type: Hybrid Worker
Salary: Starting £46,142 rising to £49,282 per annum (pro rata)
Location: Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG
About The Role
* Lead and manage fire safety and health & safety compliance across all sites, ensuring adherence to UK legislation and best practices.
* Conduct risk assessments, fire drills, safety audits, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
* Develop and deliver training programs to staff on fire safety, manual handling, and general health & safety awareness.
* Liaise with external agencies (e.g. fire services, HSE) and internal stakeholders to ensure effective safety management.
* Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and documentation, including incident reporting and investigation records; ensure all fire risk assessments are maintained and delivered effectively.
About You
* NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety and Fire Safety.
* Proven experience in a health & safety management role, ideally within the public sector, facilities or construction environments.
* Strong knowledge of UK fire safety regulations, risk management, and emergency planning.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage staff at all levels.
* Proficient in using safety management systems and reporting tools (e.g. RAMS, incident logs, compliance dashboards).
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
