Overview
The post holder is a member of the Facilities Team based in Housekeeping and Domestic Services and will be responsible for carrying out catering and cleaning duties across the Kendray Hospital site, reporting to Housekeeping and Domestic Supervisors and the Housekeeping Manager. The role requires flexibility in approach to the duties.
There are multiple posts available: 1 x 20 hours, 1 x 30 hours (30 hours - 5 x 6 hour shifts over 7 days including bank holidays and weekends), and 1 x 20 hours post plus 1 x 30 hours post as described. Shifts include evenings and weekends on a rota basis including bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to clean all areas following the National Standards of Cleanliness, including signing off sheets to confirm work completed. Duties include catering tasks and preparation of small amounts of food from the freezer, serving food, and completing relevant paperwork such as food temperature checks. Work is performed across ward environments and within a team, with prioritisation of workload and potential for overtime to cover sickness or holidays.
Key Responsibilities
* Housekeeping duties: receive and store food, maintain records, regenerate/prepare/serve meals, display menus, supply sundry items, store linen and clothing, launder bed linen, assist service users with laundry, communicate with multidisciplinary teams, and manage menu changes.
* Cleaning and housekeeping to a high standard within ward areas, reporting discrepancies, damp dusting, waste disposal, replenishing consumables, and maintaining infection control and health and safety standards.
* Kitchen and catering cleaning: wash dishes, clean kitchen surfaces and equipment, mop floors, clean sanitary fittings, and ensure cleanliness of catering areas and equipment.
* Weekly, Periodic, and General duties: high dusting, curtain changes, maintenance of floors, cleaning of equipment, store rooms, and furniture; manual handling and safe operation of cleaning equipment.
* Health and safety, COSHH compliance and adherence to Trust policies; occasional exposure to unpleasant environments; duties may change with service developments.

Special Knowledge/Skills
Essential: good interpersonal skills, able to communicate with staff, service users and visitors; ability to work without immediate supervision, prioritise and use own initiative; positive can-do attitude. Desirable: basic health and safety awareness.

Qualifications
Essential: Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety or willingness to undertake within 12 months; basic literacy and numeric skills.

Experience
