We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nursing professional to support the continuous improvement of patient care within the Paediatric service. You will work collaboratively with clinical teams across the Trust to identify opportunities to maintain and enhance standards of care, ensuring safe, effective and innovative practice.
You will provide professional leadership, guidance and clinical expertise to support staff development and the implementation of evidence-based practice. You will lead on the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, oversee audit activity to monitor effectiveness, and contribute to the education and training of multidisciplinary teams.
As a senior clinical leader, you will act as a visible, credible and effective role model, demonstrating high professional standards and supporting a culture of learning, innovation and quality improvement within paediatric nursing services.
You will be required to be flexible and have clinical credibility to support staff where needed, including participation in shift working patterns (days, nights, weekends and bank holidays) to provide hands‑on clinical leadership and support.
Promote communication across the multidisciplinary team, representing the service at local and national forums as required and contributing flexibly to service management and clinical leadership in line with senior team arrangements.
Main duties of the job
Provide inspirational clinical and professional leadership, acting as a highly visible role model for nursing staff across high dependency and acute care environments. Drive excellence in practice by leading, coordinating and delivering high-quality education and training programmes that ensure staff competence, regulatory compliance and continuous professional development aligned to service and organisational priorities.
Champion outstanding, safe and personalised patient‑centred care through robust assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing practice. Actively support and advise staff, patients and families, working close with the multidisciplinary team to maintain exceptional standards of care and experience.
Embed evidence-based practice by leading the implementation, review and monitoring of policies, guidelines, audit activity and clinical governance frameworks. Play a key role in service development, quality improvement and audit initiatives in collaboration with the senior nursing and matron team.
Maintain a safe, effective and responsive clinical environment, proactively managing incidents, investigations and learning from adverse events. Support workforce planning and resource management, including rota coordination, skill mix optimisation and effective use of financial and physical resources.

Qualifications
* RN Child / RSCN Qualification
* PILS
* Mentorship in clinical Practice/teaching qualification
* Evidence of recent CPD
* NMC Registration
* APLS/EPALS
* Post Graduate certificate in teaching
Knowledge and Experience
* Extensive post registration experience with a large proportion of this in an Emergency Department or Paediatric Assessment Unit
* Evidence of innovation of change
* Evidence of ability to support with and teach clinical skills to staff.
* Evidence of successfully supporting, managing and leading the team on a day to day basis
* Knowledge of Professional regulations. Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
* Emergency Department related skills; Plastering, Cannulation and Vena‑puncture, Wound Closure, CVC access
Communication
* Excellent communication skills- non‑verbal and verbal
* Evidence of ability to team build
