The Role As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you’ll be responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, testing, fault diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of electrical plant and equipment. You’ll play a key part in maintaining reliability across power generation and distribution systems, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. Typical equipment includes power generation and distribution systems (single-phase/three-phase LV), earthing systems, switch panels, transformers, motors, generators, lighting systems, and circuit protection devices such as fuses, MCBs, relays, RCDs, and thermal overloads. Key Responsibilities * Carry out installation, maintenance, testing, fault-finding, and repair of electrical plant and components. * Work safely within company and statutory health, safety, and environmental regulations, including Permit to Work (PTW) systems. * Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and equipment manuals. * Update ‘as-built’ documentation and suggest improvements to enhance plant performance and safety. * Maintain and correctly use tools, equipment, and digital systems. * Diagnose and resolve electrical and electromechanical faults promptly to minimise downtime. Qualifications & Experience * ECITB or equivalent recognised electrical apprenticeship, or HNC/D with relevant hands-on experience. * Valid CompEx Inspection Certificate (Ex01–04). * Sound understanding of the Electricity at Work Regulations and current IET Wiring Regulations. * LV Authorised Person status essential; HV Authorisation and experience with switching/isolation procedures desirable. * Knowledge of relay protection, fire and gas detection, and emergency shutdown systems. * Experience working within a Safety Management System (SMS). * Background in the food industry or similar environment would be advantageous.
