This leadership role within the Growth and Regeneration Directorate offers the opportunity to shape service delivery, ensure statutory compliance and support the Council’s Corporate Landlord function.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll provide expert guidance and operational leadership across a wide range of building-related services, ensuring assets are safe, fit for purpose, and environmentally responsible. Acting as deputy to the Technical Services Manager, you’ll oversee compliance, manage budgets, and lead on strategic initiatives.
* Lead and manage a team of Senior Building Surveyors.
* Oversee building maintenance, compliance and project delivery.
* Act as subject matter expert for water hygiene, asbestos and fire safety.
* Support mechanical and electrical solutions in collaboration with engineers.
* Use systems such as NEC4, SFG20, JobLogic, FastDraft and Concerto for contract and asset management.
* Represent the Council in committees, working groups and emergency planning.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a confident leader with extensive experience in building surveying and property management. You’ll need strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex projects and teams.
* Full membership of RICS, CIOB, RIBA, CIBSE or equivalent.
* Proven experience in building maintenance, compliance and health & safety (including CDM regulations).
* Strong budget management and resource planning skills.
* Experience managing teams, contractors and external consultants.
* Ability to engage with stakeholders including schools, charities and internal departments.
* Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and willingness to learn new systems.
Desirable: Experience with NEC4, SFG20, FastDraft and Concerto systems.
