Audit Manager
Cardiff | Circa £55,000 – £70,000 | Permanent
This prominent Cardiff practice has seen consistent growth in its audit department and is now looking for a Manager who can take real ownership of a portfolio. This isn't a firm where you will be stuck in a back office; they want a professional who is comfortable being the face of the firm for their clients. The Partners are looking for a leader who can drive quality and mentor the next generation of talent as the firm continues to expand its footprint in South Wales.
The Role
* Manage a diverse portfolio of audit clients, including corporate groups, entrepreneurial SMEs, and notable not-for-profit organisations.
* Take full responsibility for the audit cycle, from initial planning and budgeting through to final technical review and Partner sign-off.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing commercially minded advice and managing expectations throughout the year.
* Lead and develop a dedicated team of Seniors and Juniors, overseeing their technical progression and conducting performance reviews.
* Support the Partners with departmental strategy, including workflow management, recruitment, and business development initiatives.
About You
* ACA or ACCA qualified with significant post-qualification experience within a practice audit environment.
* Currently operating at Manager level or a high-performing Assistant Manager ready for a definitive step up.
* Robust technical knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, with the ability to navigate complex accounting treatments.
* A credible leader with the interpersonal skills to build lasting client relationships and maintain high team morale.
* Commercially aware and interested in contributing to the wider growth of the firm’s audit service line.
Why This Role
The firm sits in a "sweet spot" in the Cardiff market. Large enough to handle complex, high-turnover engagements, but small enough that your voice is heard and your career path isn't blocked. There is a clear and supported trajectory toward Senior Manager and Director, with a Partner group that is actively invested in succession planning. For a Manager who wants to influence the shape of a department rather than just maintaining the status quo, this is an excellent move.
