We pay an attractive salary of £22,820 - £23,965 and offer access to training and development opportunities.
The Governing Body of Graig Y Rhacca Primary and Nursery Community School is looking to appoint a member to our team who is committed to developing parental engagement and emotional and wellbeing support for our pupils and their families.
The purpose of the Family Engagement Officer is to work alongside the school’s HT and DHT, teachers and support staff team with pupils and their families in need of specific support. It is a varied role with the focus of supporting and engaging pupils and their families. The underpinning value of the work is to ensure that every pupil achieves their potential through the provision of targeted support, signposting to services and intervention. Under the direction of the Head Teacher, the FEO will contribute to all aspects of pupils’ well-being and achievement, ensuring attendance and punctuality is of a high priority.
We are looking for someone who:
1. is a strong communicator
2. warm and approachable
3. hard-working and can demonstrate an ability to use their own initiative
4. have knowledge of relevant policies / codes of practice and legislation in relation to education and child welfare/protection
5. can promote parents’ and families’ appreciation of the importance of attendance, education and learning
6. is able to liaise effectively with a range of external agencies including Children’s Services
7. will work to encourage good relationships and positive dialogue between parents and school to develop mutual respect, understanding and confidence.

11. Previous experience of supporting vulnerable families and children will be an advantage.
For the role, we ask that you have:
12. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
13. Excellent numeracy/literacy skills – equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and maths.
14. Working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes.
The ability to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving.
