We are seeking a motivated health care professional to join the Advanced Clinical Practitioners in Acute Medicine at the Royal Bolton Hospital. The team comprises eleven Advanced Clinical Practitioners and two trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners, providing a seven‑day service to the Acute Assessment Unit and covering all areas of Acute Medicine.

The role offers the opportunity to work within a busy, dynamic team that delivers high‑quality, patient‑centred care. Non‑medical prescribing qualification is required.

The ideal candidate has experience in an adult acute or urgent care division and possesses comprehensive skills across Acute Medicine, with strong leadership, education and research abilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat, and decide admission or discharge for adult patients under minimal supervision.
• Manage own caseload and respond to unpredictable work patterns.
• Act as a clinical expert, making high‑level decisions using advanced assessment and treatment skills.
• Facilitate inter‑professional care, direct and supervise colleagues, maintain and review all records.
• Provide advanced clinical skills and knowledge to staff in acute medicine, urgent care and nursing.
• Initiate, conduct and evaluate research and audit projects.
• Develop and deliver educational programmes for staff locally and collaborate nationally to advance practice.
• Order and interpret radiological imaging.
• Execute non‑medical prescribing; dedicated 80 % clinical time and 20 % non‑clinical time for research, audit, education and leadership.

Clinical supervision is provided by an allocated medical consultant mentor and a Lead ACP in Acute Medicine, with access to continuous professional development across the four domains of advanced practice.
