Op COURAGE Southwest is an NHS England commissioned service delivering a veterans' mental health service across the Southwest area, including Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and Dorset.
Op COURAGE, working in conjunction with statutory NHS services, provides a complete mental health pathway for service personnel, reservists, armed forces veterans, and their families. We also collaborate with various third sector military organisations and other commissioned military services.
Op COURAGE builds on existing statutory provisions within local areas to ensure veterans can access holistic services that integrate mental health, physical health, and wellbeing support tailored to individual needs.
Op COURAGE Southwest is one of six national NHS teams, working across the area in partnership with specialist organisations to provide an integrated service. AWP is the lead provider for Op COURAGE Southwest Integrated Veterans Mental Health Services (IVMH). Other partnership members include:

We are currently recruiting a Band 4 Community Support Worker to work across Somerset and Dorset, supporting the delivery of this vital service.
Main duties of the job
To provide focused, person-centred support and care interventions to individuals with severe and enduring mental health needs living in the community. The role involves working alongside a multidisciplinary team under the indirect supervision of registered clinicians, as an associate recovery worker and/or care coordinator. Key responsibilities include:
* Forming compassionate, recovery-focused, therapeutic relationships with service users and their carers, supporting them to manage their mental health in a community setting.
* Engaging in comprehensive needs assessments, including mental state, clinical risk, spiritual, cultural, emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing.
* Supporting service users with managing finances and housing needs.
* Empowering service users to self-manage aspects of their treatment, such as medication, diet, lifestyle, physical health, and overall wellbeing.
Additionally, the role may involve acting as Care Coordinator for service users assessed as having low to moderate clinical complexity and risk, under supervision of registered clinicians.
