Overview

Specialist Bereavement Counselling Co-ordinator – Lehrman Cameron Studio, LLC. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate counsellor to help lead the delivery of a responsive and person-centred bereavement service.


Responsibilities

* Provide high-quality pre- and post-bereavement counselling to individuals and families, based on evidence-based practice and in line with statutory requirements and NHS policies.
* Work across hospital and community settings, supporting adults and children with safe, individualised, and effective care.
* Coordinate the day-to-day running of the counselling service, including supervision and development of counsellors, students, and volunteers.
* Contribute to service planning and development and maintain high standards of practice and clinical governance.
* Lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality bereavement care across the Hywel Dda University Health Board area, underpinned by research evidence, best practice, and clinical expertise.
* Manage a defined caseload independently using recognised assessment tools and clinical judgement to deliver holistic, personalised therapeutic care.
* Assess, monitor, and coordinate support programmes in partnership with clients and other professionals, tailoring to individual needs, context, and culture.
* Recognise, report, and respond to unsafe practices and promote high standards of care; provide clear, accurate information to clients throughout the pre- and post-bereavement process.
* Work flexibly across community settings and at Ty Cymorth, Glangwili General Hospital (Carmarthen) and Ty Bryngwyn, Prince Philip Hospital (Llanelli).
* Desirable Welsh language skills; applications from English- and Welsh-speaking applicants are welcome.
* Contribute to ongoing development and delivery of bereavement care across the health board area, with a focus on bilingual service delivery where possible.


Qualifications & Experience

* Experience as a counsellor in bereavement or related settings; ability to demonstrate clinical expertise and leadership experience.
* Ability to work autonomously with strong communication skills.
* Willingness to support supervision and development of others; experience with risk assessment and safeguarding is beneficial.
* Welsh language ability is desirable; if not meeting language requirements, learning options are available during employment.
