An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service in Knowsley.
We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, therapists and support workers who assess, treat and signpost referrals received for children and young people displaying mental health difficulties.
The successful candidate will be a key part of the multidisciplinary team, with caseload management responsibilities and excellent communication skills to liaise with professionals, young people and families.
Knowsley CYPMHS is part of the THRIVE offer within Knowsley and the candidate will hold a key role in ensuring its effective use.
Responsibilities
* Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the specialist service.
* Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions in line with the specialist psychological model of care.
* Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for children and young people.
* Use highly developed communication skills to explore personal sensitive difficulties, including bonding and attachment, and convey CBT and other psychological formulations in an easily understood language.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of children and young people.
* Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.
* Adhere to an agreed activity contract for client contacts and clinical sessions per week to minimise waiting times and ensure accessible treatment delivery.
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings related to referrals or clients in treatment where appropriate.
* Complete data collection requirements and keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.
* Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure stepped formulation‑driven care and a matched‑care approach.
* Ensure maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and professional bodies such as BPS, UKCP, BABCP and keep up to date with new recommendations and guidelines from the Department of Health.
* Protect client confidentiality at all times.
* Keep up to date with advances in CBT and other psychological therapies for children and young people.
* Identify, discuss and review clear professional objectives with senior therapists as part of continuing professional development (CPD).
* Attend clinical/managerial supervision and individual performance reviews as agreed.
* Maintain CPD records and personal development plans to reflect the latest theoretical and service delivery models.
* Attend relevant conferences and workshops on perinatal and parent‑infant mental health in line with professional objectives.
* Participate in service improvement initiatives by highlighting issues and implementing changes in practice.
