Hours: 40 (Across 5 days) Salary: £26,522 to £26,522 Annum Overview of the role As part of expanding our Maintenance Team, we are seeking to recruit a Professional Multi-trade operative, to assist our existing team in delivering maintenance services to our Care Homes in the Southern Region. The work is mainly reactive maintenance but with the opportunity to also carry out Planned Maintenance at certain times. Key duties To ensure that the Home(s) as a whole, and all items of CHOICE equipment are maintained and repaired to the highest possible standard. To provide and maintain the highest possible standards for the built environment and associated services within CHOICE Homes, including their external environment & garden areas. Develop & maintain effective communications with ALL Staff; Service Users; Visitors & Contractors. To fully ensure, understand and maintain a cost-effective approach to Maintenance To provide an efficient and effective maintenance support service to the Homes at all times. To ensure that all Service Users environments and equipment are maintained and repaired to the highest possible standard. Experience with a building industry trade such as a Carpenter or Plumber ideally. Health & Safety is a vital part of any Industry so knowledge & experience in this area will also be an advantage. You should be able to turn your hand to most Maintenance tasks, unsupervised, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve. To be available for 24hr/7day a week On-Call support to the Homes, on a rota basis. It is anticipated that this is for one week in four minimum, but also to cover sickness & absence with in the team. Additional pay of £130 per week for out of hours cover is offered with time and a quarter for any on site activity required. To also, as and when required, carry out the following: Basic carpentry Domestic plumbing repairs General maintenance repairs Installation of equipment Planned Maintenance as required which may include Fire Alarm & Emergency Lighting Testing, Legionella temperature recording and general Health & Safety Checks. General Responsibilities To provide regular & frequent communications with the Lead Operatives, Head of Maintenance, Head of Property Helpdesk and Maintenance Administrators. To ensure you are responsible for any dangerous or hazardous materials or equipment that you are using. To ensure that you are aware of the C.O.S.H.H. regulations and the whereabouts of all C.O.S.H.H Data / Information Sheets and to ensure that all chemical and any other storage areas are kept locked and secure when not in use. To ensure that you wear any personal protective clothing when carrying out any dangerous or hazardous tasks. To comply with Choice Care Group organisational standards, policies and procedures. To report any defects, damage, theft, breakages or hazards. To respect the confidentiality and individuality of Service Users. Health and Safety It is the responsibility of all employees to ensure that the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act are complied with, safe working practices are adhered to and that any hazards observed are reported to the appropriate officer immediately. Attendance at Health and Safety Training Days as organised from time to time is mandatory. Personal attributes A clean Full UK Drivers Licence is required for this role. 3-5 years experience within a trade role is desirable Where will you work?
