 
        
        Overview
Two personal care assistants are required to support a young female client in a 2:1 capacity. The role involves helping her access the community, providing personal care, and assisting with PEG feeding. She has epilepsy, severe asthma, and Level 3 autism. She is non-verbal but communicates using an aid book, and uses a wheelchair when in the community for health and safety reasons. The vacancy is restricted for women only, and the carer of a specific sex may be requested by the family due to intimate care needs.
Responsibilities
 * Provide support to access community activities and outings
 * Assist with personal care and PEG feeding as required
 * Manage safety and wellbeing, including monitoring for overstimulation and seizure awareness
 * Engage with the client using activities she enjoys (outdoors, park visits, bubbles, music, singing, and observing cars)
 * Remain mindful of potential self-harm when overwhelmed and intervene accordingly
 * Work as part of a 2:1 care team and coordinate with the family
 * Be aware of and manage interactions with the family’s two dogs
 * Commit to a physically demanding role when required
Qualifications and Requirements
 * Experience with seizures is essential
 * Safety-oriented, patient, energetic, bubbly and engaging demeanor
 * Ability to adapt to the client’s communication style (aid book) and non-verbal needs
 * Willingness to work Saturdays and a weekday evening (to be negotiated)
 * Enhanced DBS check will be funded by the employer
 * Proximity to Crowle preferred due to role location
 * Due to intimate care requirements, the family may request a carer of a specific sex
Details
The role is 6 hours per week term time and 9 hours per week during school holidays, paid at £12.66 per hour.
