Overview
A leading engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking an Electrical Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Design Engineer to join its team at a manufacturing facility in the Warrington area. This is a hybrid role offering the opportunity to work on high-impact EPC projects across a range of regulated industries including nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, energy, and utilities. This position is ideal for engineers with a strong background in electrical design who are looking to contribute to technically challenging projects within a collaborative and safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop EC&I systems for electrical control panels and associated equipment
Interpret customer requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions
Manage and execute EC&I design activities throughout the project lifecycle, including change control.
Support manufacturing and construction phases with technical input and problem-solving
Plan and deliver tasks to meet project objectives, ensuring control of cost, quality, and timelines
Engage directly with clients to manage expectations and ensure alignment with project scope
Prepare, check, and approve engineering estimates and design documentation
Monitor and report on project progress, scope changes, and resource usageRequired Experience & Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Proven experience in EC&I design within highly regulated sectors (e.g., nuclear, defence, oil & gas, power generation)
Strong understanding of electrical control systems and instrumentation
Professional engineering design or technical specialist backgroundDesirable Skills & Knowledge
Switchgear design
Control and automation system design
Motor control centre and variable drive system design
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, and other relevant CAD tools
Familiarity with AMTECH software
Understanding of UK security clearance requirements (existing clearance is advantageous)Benefits
