We're looking for a Sous Chef ready to support the Head Chef, lead by example, and build a passionate, high-performing kitchen team. You’ll be the engine room of our food operation — ensuring every dish meets our high standards and every guest leaves with a smile. If successful, training will take place at our neighbouring site, The Hunloke Arms in Chesterfield - ready for launch. Everything we do is built on our values: Warm, Hungry, and People Smart.
Base pay range
This range is provided by Chilled Pubs. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the Head Chef in maintaining our 5-star food hygiene rating and ensuring food safety compliance.
* Assisting with kitchen training, operations, and maintaining top-quality food prep and presentation.
* Leading your section with confidence, managing orders and ticket times, while working closely with the kitchen team to deliver a smooth service.
* Flexing across different kitchen stations as needed, with full menu knowledge to back you up.
* Helping with stock control, ordering, deliveries, and keeping the kitchen organised and efficient.
* Communicating clearly and mentoring kitchen team members to support their growth and development.
* Supporting the Head Chef to hit key targets for food quality, speed, and labour efficiency.

* A dedicated chef focused on delivering exceptional standards and kitchen cleanliness.
* A natural leader and communicator who can work well with the Head Chef and the wider team.
* Eager to learn and grow — excited about your own development and career progression.

* Experienced in busy, high-volume kitchens (2+ years), with the ability to multitask and prioritise under pressure.
