Driver Hire Edinburgh City is currently recruiting experienced Class 1 (C+E) Drivers to support a variety of clients across Edinburgh City and surrounding areas.
This ad hoc role is ideal for drivers looking for flexible work that fits around their availability while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
🕒 The Role
1. Carrying out daily vehicle checks prior to each shift
2. Completing a mix of trunking and delivery work, including local and occasional distance runs
3. Transporting palletised goods between depots and distribution centres
4. Minimal manual handling, with forklift loading and unloading where applicable
5. Ensuring all paperwork and delivery records are completed accurately
6. Following all driving laws, Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations, and health & safety procedures
🕒 Working Patterns
7. Flexible shifts based on your availability
8. Various start times available, including days, backs, and occasional nights
9. Weekday and weekend work available depending on client demand
10. Typical shift length: 8–12 hours
💰 Pay Rates
PAYE:
11. £15.50 per hour
12. £20.66 per hour (overtime after 8 hours)
PAYE Advanced:
13. £17.37 per hour
14. £23.15 per hour (overtime after 8 hours)
✅ Minimum 8 hours’ pay guaranteed per shift
✅ Weekly pay
✅ Holiday pay accrued (included within PAYE Advanced rate)
✅ Requirements
15. Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) licence
16. Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card
17. Maximum 9 penalty points (no major endorsements)
18. Minimum 1 year of HGV driving experience
19. Reliable, professional, and safety-focused approach

20. Drug and alcohol testing may be carried out during induction and randomly
21. Full site induction and training provided where required
