Location: Salisbury SP3
Salary: £35,000-£40,000 depending on experience
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Hours: Monday – Friday 8.30am-5pm

Job Purpose:
The Foundry Works Manager is responsible for leading, motivating, and developing the foundry workforce to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality production.
This role places a strong emphasis on people leadership building capable teams, fostering a positive work culture, and driving engagement while also overseeing day-to-day operations, quality, and continuous improvement across all foundry processes.
Role Responsibilities:
Leadership & People Management
* Lead and motivate a diverse team to meet production, quality, and safety goals.
* Build a high-performance, accountable, and team-focused culture.
* Encourage open communication, feedback, and professional development.
* Address personnel issues fairly while ensuring a safe and inclusive workplace.
* Drive training initiatives to strengthen skills and workforce flexibility.
Operational Oversight
* Oversee all foundry operations to meet production targets and deadlines.
* Coordinate with quality, maintenance, and supply chain for seamless operations.
* Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement to boost efficiency and cut waste.
Quality & Safety
* Ensure products meet specifications and quality standards through strong processes and teamwork.
* Lead health, safety, and environmental compliance, promoting a proactive safety culture.
* Reinforce standards with regular safety briefings, audits, and toolbox talks.
Resource & Cost Management
* Optimise materials, equipment, and manpower to achieve business targets.
* Track production, costs, and KPIs, driving improvements and corrective actions.
Role Requirements
Essential:
* Proven experience in a leadership or management role within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
* Demonstrate ability to lead, motivate and develop teams to achieve operational goals.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels to build high-performing teams.
* Practical knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements in an industrial setting.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
* Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a foundry or metal casting environment.
* Formal qualification in engineering, manufacturing, metallurgy, or a related discipline.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
* Experience working with ERP or production management systems.
* Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and casting process controls.
