Reports to: Production Director
Forza Doors is the UK’s leading manufacturer of bespoke timber doors and other timber products. With revenue of over £38m and ambitious plans for continued double-digit revenue and profit growth, we are looking for a Continuous Improvement Coordinator to help us embed lean manufacturing in a practical, structured and sustainable way across our factory operations.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working closely with production teams, supervisors and managers to turn improvement ideas into everyday operational practice. You will support activity that improves standards, reduces waste, strengthens visual management, supports problem solving and helps create a more stable, capable and efficient manufacturing operation.
What you’ll be doing
You will:
* Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles across our manufacturing activities.
* Work with Production Managers and supervisors to improve daily operational discipline.
* Help develop, document and improve standard work at key production stages.
* Introduce and improve visual management across the factory.
* Support WIP reduction activity and improve the use of factory floor space.
* Facilitate root cause problem solving and help reduce repeat issues.
* Support improvement activity across rework reduction, scrap reduction, waste reduction, equipment optimisation, SMED and error proofing.
* Help improve process flow, reduce delay and improve labour effectiveness.
* Support the development of skills matrices, team capability and supervisor confidence.
* Track, measure and report on improvement activity and outcomes.
* Promote a culture where problems are visible, standards are followed and waste is challenged.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone with:
* Experience working in a manufacturing, production or operational environment.
* Previous experience supporting or delivering continuous improvement, lean manufacturing or operational improvement activity.
* Practical experience working with frontline teams, supervisors and managers to improve ways of working.
* Experience identifying waste, inefficiency or repeat issues and supporting corrective action.
* Knowledge of problem-solving methods and improvement tools in a hands-on operational setting.
* Experience introducing or improving visual management, standard work or process controls would be beneficial.
* Experience in timber manufacturing or a make-to-order production environment would be helpful, but is not essential.
You’ll be a great fit if you are
* Practical, hands-on and comfortable spending time on the factory floor.
* Organised, disciplined and able to follow through.
* Confident communicating with managers, supervisors and shopfloor teams.
* Able to influence others and build credibility.
* Comfortable using data and operational information to identify issues and track progress.
* Proactive, resilient and solutions-focused.
* Detail-focused, with a strong commitment to standards.
* Passionate about making improvements that are practical and sustainable.
Useful knowledge and skills
A good understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods is important. Practical knowledge of tools such as root cause analysis, 5 Whys, visual management, standard work, waste reduction and process improvement would be highly beneficial. A lean or continuous improvement qualification is desirable, but practical manufacturing improvement experience is equally valuable.
