We are looking for a flexible and customer focussed Environmental Health Officer to be part of our busy Business Regulation Team, covering a range of regulatory functions including commercial pollution prevention and control aspects such as planning consultations, pollution permitting, licensing and nuisance investigation. You will need to manage your time and priorities effectively. Capable of working collaboratively and share ideas to ensure service excellence is achieved.
Role responsibilities and main duties
Deliver case-based and general environmental health comments and advice to the council’s Planning teams.
Act as an authorised officer under all environmental protection and pollution control legislation including environmental permitting (IPPC and LAPC).
Carry out a range of proactive and reactive casework in the Business Regulation Team including:
* Deciding and taking the most appropriate course of informal or formal enforcement action.
* Preparing emails, letters, memos, notices, legal papers and other documents as appropriate.
* Serving legal documents as necessary.
Attending court and other hearings, giving evidence as necessary
Provide advice to individuals, businesses and other stakeholders, via correspondence and information and publicity material.
Support continuous improvement within the Service in line with Service and corporate priorities
Contribute to the activities of the Business Regulation Team and wider Service
Area Participate in project work for the Smoke Control Area and carry out other duties as may be required.
At times, the post holder may be asked to provide flexibility across the service to cover peaks and troughs of work demand
