Salary : £36,547.00 Job Description: Stock Condition and Energy Surveyor Make a real impact on the homes people live in. We have an opportunity for you to join Gentoo’s Property Investment team in the position of Stock Condition and Energy Surveyor, a role that helps shape the future of our housing stock. You’ll carry out stock condition surveys and energy assessments to ensure our customers live in safe, warm and energy-efficient homes. Working closely with the Asset Investment Team, providing accurate data to support future investment plans—such as replacing key elements in our properties. Your insight and data will directly inform investment decisions—guiding where and when we improve homes, from kitchens and bathrooms to wider property upgrades. Your work will help us invest in the right areas at the right time. This role plays an important part in ensuring our homes meet the Government’s Decent Homes Standard and remain free from health and safety hazards. We support a great work-life balance with our standard 36-hour working week, Monday to Friday. Plus, enjoy an early finish at 12:30 pm every Friday—giving you more time for what matters to you. We are also proud to be certified as a “Great Place To Work”. Please note: You are required to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car for work-related travel to be considered for this opportunity. The role is subject to a DBS check arranged and funded by Gentoo. What you will be doing: Carry out stock condition surveys and energy assessments across our domestic properties, helping us understand how our homes perform and where we can improve. You’ll also identify and record any HHSRS hazards or areas that may not meet Decent Homes standards, ensuring our residents live in safe, comfortable homes. Support your own professional development as well as the growth of your team. You’ll contribute to a culture of learning by sharing knowledge, encouraging collaboration, and promoting continuous improvement within your wider team. Engage in regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with requirements from relevant professional bodies, ensuring your skills remain current and aligned with best practice. What you will bring: A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential for work-related travel. Demonstrable knowledge of stock condition data collection within the social housing sector, including Decent Homes, Regulatory Standards and energy performance legislation (EPCs). Relevant experience working in social housing, carrying out stock condition surveys, HHSRS inspections and energy assessments. Experience managing energy assessment processes, including certification, systems, and associated administration. Confident in interrogating, validating and working with asset and stock data. Highly organised, with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads to meet targets and deadlines. Strong IT skills, with experience using Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) and asset management systems. An effective communicator who works well collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders. It would be great if you had, but it's not essential: An HNC/D in a relevant building industry qualification. Level 3 Domestic Energy Assessor (willing to work towards). Experience in the production of energy performance certificates for domestic buildings.
