Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in Scunthorpe
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our friendly and inclusive school in the Scunthorpe area. This is a vital role supporting students with a range of learning, emotional, and behavioural needs-both inside and outside of the classroom.
Whether you're supporting students 1:1, in small groups, or working closely with a teacher in a busy classroom, your impact will be significant every single day.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support students with their learning in lessons across the curriculum
2. Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils who need additional help
3. Assist with classroom management and contribute to a calm, productive learning environment
4. Help students develop confidence, independence, and resilience
5. Use a range of strategies to support pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
6. Track and record pupil progress and share feedback with teachers and SENCO
7. Adapt learning materials under teacher direction to suit individual needs
8. Supervise pupils during breaks, lunch, or school activities when required
You Will Need
9. A genuine passion for working with children or young people
10. Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
11. The ability to work well as part of a team and take initiative when needed
12. A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude to supporting learning
13. An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
14. (Desirable) Experience working with pupils with SEN, behavioural challenges, or learning difficulties
15. (Desirable) A recognised TA or LSA qualification or a degree in education, psychology, or a related field
