Hybrid working with a mix of office, home working and visits Compressed hours (5 days in 4) and 9 day fortnight available from day 1 if fits with the team and service Relocation package available Sponsorship swap available Salary range £40,735 to £43,516 Retention payment available after first year 2.5% of the bottom of the grade payable after 1 year (365 days service). £1,018 7.5% of the bottom of the grade payable after 2 years (730 days service). £3,055 10% of the bottom of the grade payable after 3 years (1095 days service). £4,074 Total over the 3 years 20.00% £8,147 Annually after the three years flat rate £1,500 About the Role We're looking for dedicated and skilled Children's Assessment Social Workers to join 6 Assessment Teams in Cambridgeshire. This is a key frontline role where you'll carry out timely, high-quality assessments of children and families to identify risk, need, and the right level of support. You'll make a real difference from the very start of a child's journey with us, ensuring they receive the right help at the right time. You'll be part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary service where reflective supervision, manageable caseloads, and continuous professional development are at the heart of what we do. Key Responsibilities Undertake Child and Family Assessments under the Children Act 1989, including Section 47 and Section 17 enquiries. Analyse information, assess risk and need, and determine appropriate next steps - from early help to child protection planning or legal proceedings. Work closely with children, families, and partner agencies to build on strengths and create clear, outcome-focused plans. Produce high-quality written assessments and reports for planning meetings, conferences, and court when required. Maintain accurate, timely case records and ensure practice is child-centred, evidence-based, and in line with statutory guidance. Contribute to team learning, reflective discussions, and service development. About You Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England. Experience in frontline children's social work, including safeguarding and assessment work. Confident in managing risk, applying thresholds, and making sound professional judgments. Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively with families and partners.
