The role of the Care Assistant is to provide care and support for residents within the Christian ethos and aims of the Council for Social Witness
Responsibilities
* To be a Key Worker/Primary Worker to residents.
* To help residents with dressing/undressing, toileting/bathing where necessary.
* To assist and encourage residents’ mobility as required
* To encourage residents to be as active and as independent as possible
* To carry out all care tasks with respect for the residents’ dignity and privacy
* To give residents maximum choice over their lifestyle and affairs
* To help residents exercise their rights as citizens
* To promote and take part in social and recreational activities within the home, which are designed to enhance quality of life
* To administer resident’s medication after appropriate training.
* To contribute to the assessment of and care planning for resident’s needs
* To accompany residents on external visits when necessary, e.g. hospital appointments, trips
* To refer enquiries about residents to the Management of the Home
* To be prepared, after training, to take on additional responsibilities in order to act up if and when required
* To be prepared to undertake NVQ/QCF training
* To attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
* To complete appropriate written records as required
* To update and process computerised records as required
* To comply with all CSW policies and procedures as required
* To adhere to the standards laid down by the NISCC Code of Practice for Social Care Workers
* To ensure that safe working practice is adhered to at all times
* To work effectively as part of the team
* To maintain dignity, respect and confidentiality as required.
* To carry out any other reasonable duty as required by Management of the Home which is necessary for the support and well-being of the residents
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
* Understanding of and respect for the needs of older people;
* Willing to undertake relevant training e.g. induction training, or NVQ/QCF level 2;
* Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by the duties of the post;
* Basic numeracy required by the duties of the post (as endorsed by appropriate qualification or use of numeracy skills in a work or home environment).
* Be willing to work additional hours to fulfil the requirements of the Home
* Willing to maintain registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council

Salary: £12.40 per hour (no NVQ) £12.46 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care £12.50 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care We are an equal opportunities employer.
