Support the oral health improvement practitioners to deliver and monitor a range of evidence‑based oral health improvement interventions primarily in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. This role will enable the Service to meet its performance targets by working closely with front‑line staff and other stakeholders.
To communicate effectively, persuade and influence colleagues and staff from other agencies to embed oral health improvement into daily practice and reduce oral health inequalities.
Provide high quality administrative support to the Healthy Smile Team.
This post is well suited to a GDC registered dental nurse or someone working in education, health or social care who has a strong passion for community‑based oral health improvement.

Main duties of the job
* Provide high‑quality support to all members of the Healthy Smile Team, assisting with the delivery of key oral health improvement programmes (e.g., Brushing 4 Life, Brilliant Brushers, Care to Smile, workforce training, and other events and campaigns).
* Proactively contribute to delivery of the Oral Health Improvement Service, embracing national and local priorities and targets.
* Develop skills to provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to carers, health visitors, and other professionals to promote understanding of oral health.
* Coordinate and manage the availability of oral health resources, raising and receiving orders as required.
* Prepare and deliver resources to different settings.
* Support delivery of campaigns and events in various locations.
* Ensure timely completion of monitoring data as requested by the line manager to monitor delivery of oral health interventions.
* Remain fully updated on national policy, NICE, NHSE/I, OHID guidance and policies and developments in oral health and evidence‑based practice.
* Be responsible for equipment and resources used in carrying out duties.
Person specification
Qualifications & Training
* Level 3 Certificate of the Examining Board of Dental Nurses (GDC registered) OR Level 3 Public Health qualification OR Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent training qualification.
Experience
* Experience in the delivery of oral health improvement sessions within the dental setting to patients individually or in small groups.
* Experience in the delivery of oral hygiene instruction.
* Experience in training or teaching in health or dental related field.
* Experience of working with vulnerable, disadvantaged individuals or communities to improve health and reduce inequalities.
* Experience of team and partnership working.
Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of aetiology and prevention of main dental diseases.
* Some understanding of oral health improvement principles and practices.
* Political sensitivity awareness around water fluoridation.
* Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written skills).
* Self‑aware and motivated, confident and enthusiastic.
* Good administrative skills including the use of IT applications such as MS Teams, Powerpoint and Excel to deliver online training and maintain programme data.
* Good organisational and time‑management skills and the ability to work flexibly to meet deadlines.
* Ability to motivate and support others.
Other
* Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role.
