About the role
The Student Support Advisors will play a key role in providing welfare, wellbeing, and academic progress support to undergraduate students in the Dickson Poon School of Law.
We are seeking candidates with experience in student-facing roles within a Higher Education setting. You should be highly organized, motivated, and capable of working well both independently and as part of a team. A good understanding of the student lifecycle, safeguarding protocols, and experience dealing with students facing complex difficulties—such as signposting to appropriate counselling and wellbeing services—is essential.
The Student Support Advisors will collaborate with academic personal tutors to provide structured support for students’ studies, enhance their understanding of available support mechanisms, and facilitate meaningful conversations to improve their student experience.
The role involves working closely with the Senior Student Support Manager and various central teams. It is part of the Law School’s Education Team, which oversees programme delivery, student experience, and engagement across our taught programmes.
This is a new role that will contribute to shaping the future of our vibrant and internationally renowned Law School. The responsibilities and focus of the role will evolve as we develop and refine our student support services.
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week), offered on an indefinite contract, with an expectation of working at least 2 days on-campus per week, potentially more during peak times.
We value diversity and inclusion, attracting students and staff from various backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and identities. We promote flexible working as a key enabler of inclusion and especially encourage applications from women, Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, as well as from LGBTQ+ individuals and candidates with disabilities.
