Job Description:
Responsible for supervising and managing the operation of the installation’s marine systems and associated equipment in accordance with design, UKCS legislation, classification society rules, and flag state legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the installation’s marine systems with minimal environmental impact.
* Ensure thorough knowledge of the operating safety case and performance standards to maintain asset integrity.
* Act as the Responsible Person/Area Authority for all operations in the Marine Department requiring a work permit, ensuring safety precautions are taken.
* Identify risks in marine systems and establish procedures for safety.
* Ensure understanding of safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, company policies, and instructions.
* Communicate closely with the HSE Advisor on HSEQ matters.
* Guide staff on safe working practices in line with the Safety Management Systems (SMS).
* Maintain accurate records, manuals, and drawings, updating them as necessary.
* Review compliance with SMS and update documentation accordingly.
* Ensure compliance with performance standards.
* Operate the installation according to marine procedures.
* Liaise with Production and Maintenance Supervisors for safe operations and environmental compliance.
* Manage the safe isolation and reactivation of process plant following maintenance, in line with the SIRP manual.
* Guide staff on safe marine operations.
* Liaise with Maintenance Supervisor to assign tasks and report non-compliances.
* Complete marine logs, vessel movements, weather reports, and tank contents accurately.
* Coordinate with marine logistics regarding vessel routing and requirements.
* Communicate with the Deck Foreman about vessel, helicopter, and tanker operations.
* Plan fuel loading procedures.
* Maintain tank inspection plans according to RBI and verification requirements.
* Operate and maintain mooring and offtake systems.
* Verify load and offload plans for marine control room activities.
* Supervise Marine Control Room Operators.
* Maintain records of crane and helicopter operations.
* Perform other tasks as required.
People/Department Management Responsibilities:
Provide oversight, guidance, and supervision to the department.
* Conduct regular personnel appraisals and identify training needs.
* Manage conduct and behavior.
* Ensure attendance at safety and operational meetings.
* Allocate and monitor workloads.
* Manage onboard resources to foster a flexible and efficient work culture.
