Middlesex Sheriff’s Office - Civil Process Deputy
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) Civil Process Division is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Civil Process Deputy / Enforcement Unit (CEU Deputy) in Chelmsford, MA. The role involves researching and conducting arrests, performing business and property seizures, and maintaining peace during evictions and administrative search warrants. This is a full-time, non-exempt position covered under a collective bargaining agreement, with part-time options available. The CEU Deputy reports to the Director of Civil Process or their designee. The typical hours are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexible scheduling and days off, subject to change based on division needs.
Responsibilities
* Perform background checks on individuals with outstanding capiases using law enforcement databases.
* Conduct capias arrests throughout Middlesex County and transport arrestees to courts across Massachusetts.
* Execute business and vehicle seizures as ordered by Middlesex County courts.
* Maintain peace during evictions and administrative search warrants.
* Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Civil Process or designee.

The Civil Process Deputy may interact with individuals under emotional stress and must handle confidential legal information responsibly. The role requires sensitivity, professionalism, and adherence to law enforcement standards.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
* Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) certification or exemption.
* MA Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
* Knowledge of civil litigation laws.
* Ability to pass the MSO firearm qualification and handle law enforcement equipment.
* Commitment to ongoing training at the MSO Training Academy.
* Availability to attend meetings outside regular hours.
* Strong communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must verify eligibility to work in the U.S., possess a valid driver’s license, and pass a criminal background check.
Compensation
