Job Title: Technical Manager
Location: BR6 8NL (Office-based with UK travel)
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Role Overview
Selectamark is seeking a hands-on Technical Manager with strong electrical and mechanical engineering experience and excellent communication skills to take full responsibility for the technical performance, development, and support of its technical product portfolio. The role focuses on SelectaDNA Spray Systems, alarm monitoring equipment, and associated production, quality, and R&D activities.
This role combines engineering leadership, production oversight, customer and supplier engagement, and product innovation, and suits a practical individual comfortable working across office, production, and field environments.
The role is office based at Head Office (BR6 8NL).
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Ownership
* Technical ownership of SelectaDNA Spray Systems, including electrical, mechanical, and system-level design
* Responsibility for alarm monitoring equipment, including integration, configuration, and fault diagnosis
* Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical issues
Production, Assembly & Quality
* Oversee production and assembly processes and provide engineering support to production staff
* Define and maintain assembly instructions, test procedures, and technical documentation
* Establish and manage quality control processes and continuous improvement activities
Testing & Compliance
* Ensure products meet internal quality standards and applicable regulatory or safety requirements
Supplier & Customer Engagement
* Conduct supplier visits to assess technical capability, quality, and compliance
* Carry out customer visits for pre- and post-sales technical support, including installation support, diagnostics, fault resolution, and technical demonstrations.
* Deliver technical training to customers and internal staff
Customer Support
* Provide technical customer support via telephone and email
* Act as escalation point for complex technical issues
Product Development, R&D & Risk
* Lead product development activities from concept through to production
* Drive R&D initiatives to improve existing products and develop new solutions
* Identify and manage technical and operational risks, implementing corrective and preventative actions
Skills & Experience
* Strong background in electrical and mechanical engineering
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, customers, and suppliers
* Strong understanding of production, testing, and quality control processes
Desirable / Nice to Have
Experience working with:
* Security, monitoring, or safety-critical electronic systems
* PCB design, layout, and development
* Cellular data communications (4G / 5G, SIM-based connectivity)
* 3D CAD modelling and 3D printing
* CCTV and PIDS (Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems)
* GPS tracking, telematics, or location-based systems
Additional Role Requirements (Essential)
* Own vehicle suitable for business travel
* Full, clean UK driving licence
* Live within one hour’s commute of the office (BR6 8NL)
* Flexible approach to working hours, including early starts and occasional weekend work when required
