Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a well-established engineering manufacturer to recruit a Senior Design Engineer. This is a key technical role, sitting at the heart of new product development, design assurance, and continuous improvement across the business. You'll take ownership of complex design projects from concept through to manufacture, while also playing an active role in mentoring engineers, supporting sales activity, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The role As Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and delivering new product development projects, ensuring designs are technically robust, commercially viable, and fit for manufacture. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams including sales, operations, production engineering and suppliers to see projects through end-to-end. Key responsibilities include: New Product Development & Design Lead the design and development of new products from concept through to production Produce design briefs, project scopes and development plans Manage NPI projects in line with the company's formal NPI process Produce engineering calculations, including parametric spreadsheets where required Create accurate CAD models and manufacturing drawings Generate design reports and technical documentation Provide technical input and data to support R&D tax credit claims Sales & Order Support Review customer specifications and technical documentation Check internal works orders and technical requirements Produce customer-specific GA drawings Generate part codes and Bills of Materials using EFACS Standards, Compliance & Quality Monitor updates to national and international standards Ensure design compliance with current and updated standards Communicate changes clearly across the engineering team Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and PED/PER requirements Leadership & Development Coach and mentor less experienced engineers Review and check the work of team members About you You'll be an experienced Design Engineer with the confidence to lead projects, challenge assumptions, and guide others. You'll be technically strong, process-driven, and comfortable operating across multiple departments. Key attributes include: Strong Mechanical Engineering background Experience with pressure systems and calculations would be advantageous Knowledge of casting and machining processes Track record of working to industry standards and safety regulations Solid understanding of actuation and engineered products Experience with EFACS or similar ERP/MRP systems
