Job Description
The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. She/he is responsible for quality communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Additionally, the nurse directs, coordinates, and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
A Registered Nurse III (RN III) is responsible for the care of their assigned patient population. An RN III must complete yearly mandatory competencies, unit-specific competencies as identified by the Director/Designee related to their patient population, and the Professional Practice Ladder requirements, which include: assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, participating in PI activities and department initiatives, and sharing information with the Director/Designee and co-workers. They must also participate in Valley Health paid education, seminars, conferences, workshops, or review nursing articles. Their portfolio must be current and submitted annually by March 1st, with validation of participation in at least one committee. They routinely solicit and validate patient/family satisfaction, participate in peer reviews, and develop educational bulletin boards or posters for staff, patients, and families.
