What you will do:
* Undertake specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and implement therapy interventions for clients with complex physical disabilities, using your analytical and clinical reasoning skills with appropriate outcome measures.
* Set and evaluate rehabilitation goals for patients using the right outcome measures.
* Independently evaluate therapy progress and adapt interventions as needed, applying your specialist knowledge and expertise.
* Perform risk assessments for the physical moving and handling of complex, dependent patients to further rehabilitation and ensure safe manual handling for carers.
* Communicate effectively with clients facing speech, cognitive, and behavioural challenges, including working through language barriers.
* Conduct patient and client home visits to assess discharge risks, provide therapy intervention, and determine property suitability for access.
* Offer support, advice, and education to patients, clients, and carers, using negotiation and reassurance skills with an empathetic approach.
* Liaise with and refer to external agencies for effective discharge planning and continuity of care.
* Maintain a high standard of specialist practice with support from Band 7 Occupational Therapists and other resources.
Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:
* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
* Recent UK experience working as an Occupational Therapist
* Recent NHS experience
* Registered with the HCPC
