The department of gastroenterology of University Hospitals Sussex is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic gastroenterologist colleague with sub-specialty interested in IBD. This will complement our existing team of 11 consultants
Our close-knit and enthusiastic team are passionate about delivering high quality and innovative gastroenterology care across all sub specialties and would welcome interest from potential candidates.
The post holder will work predominantly at Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton and also support services in The Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath.
You will join us during an exciting period in our organisation’s evolution following the recent mergers that created University Hospitals Sussex Foundation Trust, now the fifth biggest Trust in England. University Hospitals Sussex Foundation Trust also hosts Brighton and Sussex Medical School. The Royal Sussex County Hospital is also a training site for the regional Endoscopy Training Academy, founded in 2022 within our Trust.
Main duties of the job
To support the department of Gastroenterology in providing outpatient clinics and endoscopic procedures within Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital Hayward’s Heath. The posts will be expected to work across both sites dependent upon clinical need to support outpatient clinics, endoscopy and reviews of Gastroenterology inpatients. The post will include full participation in the endoscopy out of hour’s on-call rota and the Gastroenterology ward rota. The appointee with specialist interest in IBD would support the excellent IBD team within the trust. They would be expected to support specialist outpatient clinics and ward rounds. The appointee would also be expected to provide specialist in-patient gastroenterology ward cover/on-call alongside endoscopy and out-patient clinics. We would encourage involvement in endoscopy training

Experience/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. •Basic medical degree
2. •FRCP or its recognised equivalent.
3. •Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. • If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Gastroenterology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. • If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
