Here at P&O Ferries we are seeking a number of Customer Operations Agent’s to join our Operations Department at Dover Eastern Docks on a 4 month Fixed Term Contract, ideally running from June - September. This is a frontline port role operating on annualised hours, requiring shift work across a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, with regular outdoor working in all weather conditions.
This is an opportunity to work as part of the Port Operations team during a key peak period, helping to ensure that passenger and freight traffic is processed safely and efficiently, customers receive a high standard of service, and port operations run smoothly during high-volume periods.
The successful candidate will have a proven record in customer service delivery, working accurately in a fast-paced environment, and communicating effectively with customers and operational teams. The role is fully site-based at Dover Eastern Docks and requires a high degree of flexibility to respond to changing operational demands.
Key responsibilities and duties:
1. Processing passenger and freight vehicles, foot passengers, and group travel
2. Delivering a high standard of customer service in a busy port environment
3. Checking and collating documentation in line with statutory and port authority requirements
4. Processing cash and card payments and accurately reconciling transactions
5. Assisting with the loading and unloading of company vessels, including directing traffic
6. Working flexibly across operational areas and outdoors as required
The ideal candidate will:
7. Have previous experience in a customer service–focused role
8. Be comfortable working outdoors in a port environment
9. Demonstrate flexibility to work annualised hours and shift patterns
10. Have strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
11. Be reliable, punctual, and adaptable during peak operational periods
Desirable:
12. Knowledge of ferry or port operations (advantageous but not essential)
Location: Dover Eastern Docks. This role operates on annualised hours and shift work, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, for the duration of the 6-month Fixed Term Contract.
