Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Offline 5-Axis CNC Machinist / Programmer to join on of our clients within their precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, optimising, and proving out complex CNC programs offline, supporting high-precision manufacturing across a range of components and materials.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and optimise 5-axis CNC programs using offline CAM software
* Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications
* Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
* Simulate and verify toolpaths to ensure collision-free machining
* Work closely with shop floor machinists to support setup and prove-out
* Continuously improve cycle times and machining efficiency
* Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and documentation
* Troubleshoot machining and programming issues as they arise
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in 5-axis CNC machining and offline programming
* Strong knowledge of CAM software such as:
o PowerMill / HyperMill / Mastercam (or similar)
* Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings
* Experience with CNC controls (e.g., Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens)
* Understanding of tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies
* Knowledge of working with materials such as:
o Aerospace alloys, stainless steel, aluminium, tool steels
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Desirable Experience
* Experience in aerospace, automotive, or Engineering
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
* Experience with complex 3D surface machining
