We are currently recruiting for a Service Technician to join our team on Branch 1112 in the South. This is a full-time, permanent role working day shifts from 8:30 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 to 16:30 on Friday. The region covered includes Reading, Swindon, Bath, Bristol, and Weston-Super-Mare.
The successful candidate will carry out planned preventative maintenance on lift/escalator equipment, ensure safety inspections are completed, and address any non-conformities according to legislation and standards. Responsibilities also include improving equipment condition to reduce call-backs and downtime, performing minor repairs, and replacing components as needed. Adherence to safety and conduct procedures is mandatory, along with providing coverage through an 'on call' rota for out-of-hours maintenance and repairs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Perform routine servicing and minor repairs on lift/escalator equipment, following company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+).
2. Diagnose and rectify faults to restore equipment to proper functioning.
3. Conduct functional checks including speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, and power supply, using approved tools and PPE.
4. Inspect and adjust lifts/escalators per procedures, and complete service documentation.
5. Perform advanced fault finding and diagnostics, utilizing technical manuals and test equipment.
6. Participate in site surveys and training to update technical knowledge and skills.
7. Follow company safety and environmental policies to ensure legal compliance and safety standards.
8. Contribute to safety objectives by maintaining safety systems and implementing improvements.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Experience in lift/escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs preferred.
2. NVQ Level 3 qualification in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
3. Willingness to achieve Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
4. Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi-brand equipment.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
7. Independent working style with flexibility.
8. Manual dexterity for handling tools and recording information.
9. Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
10. Good administrative skills and punctuality.
