MOHS Consultant Dermatologist – Department of Dermatology, St Peters Health Centre
Applications are invited for the post of MOHS Consultant Dermatologist based in the Department of Dermatology at St Peters Health Centre, part of the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
This post will be offered working both within UHL and with sessions to also be worked within the Alliance partnership which hosts community elective care service. The Dermatology service is part of Specialty Medicine within the Emergency and Specialty Medicine CMG.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
* Share with colleagues responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of patients.
* Promote new ways of working and coordinate care for patients in the community, ensuring services are based on effective and integrated partnerships across the health community.
* Take part in multidisciplinary case conferences.
* Supervise and train junior medical staff.
* Appraise and assess junior staff.
* Teach, conduct research and undertake administrative duties.
* Proactively develop the service.
* Actively participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
* Responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
* Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
* Participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with other Consultants, the CMG and local GPs and commissioners within the local CCGs.
* Provide professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, observing local employment and human resource policies and procedures.
* Carry out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activities, locally and nationally.
* Participate in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and attend CPD and other governance meetings (mandatory).
* Execute managerial and budgetary responsibilities as appropriate, complying with standing orders and financial instructions of the Trust.
* Ensure all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice and current quality initiatives.
* Respond promptly to legitimate requests from Trust officers, including investigations of incidents or complaints.
* Use CPD to support professional continuing medical education; study leave is provided for this purpose.
* Undertake Trust Corporate and Directorate specific induction and competency programmes appropriate to the role.
* Maintain continuing professional development (CPD) to successfully revalidate and comply with annual appraisal and statutory training requirements.
