Head of Design – Cheshire Architectural Aluminium
We are a 30-year-old family business with a strong pipeline and a modern setup in Birchwood. We are investing heavily in people, capability and compliance as the industry shifts into the Gateway 2 world. The business is growing and we want someone who can take full ownership of the design function and raise standards as we scale.

We operate from a modern facility with proper kit, a dedicated design space, and an onsite gym for the team. We also take sustainability seriously and are actively improving our environmental impact across vehicles, materials, recycling and fabrication processes as we grow.
This role is for someone who can lead the department properly – not just manage drawings, but take responsibility for technical delivery across multiple aluminium window, door and curtain‑walling packages, support bids, and build a strong team and structure around them.
What you will do:
* Lead and manage the design team day to day
* Set design standards and processes that fit the new regulatory environment
* Review and approve drawings and technical details
* Work closely with PMs, commercial, fabrication and site teams
* Support tenders with technical input
* Deal directly with architects and main contractors
* Develop and mentor junior designers and build the department
What we need:
* Strong façade and aluminium systems background with real project experience
* Solid working ability in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM useful
* Good understanding of regulations, CWCT and compliance
* Confident communicator, organised, high attention to detail
* Able to challenge information and protect technical standards
* Someone who wants accountability and to help shape the future of the business
