School Business Manager
Contract: Permanent Contract
Start date: September 2026
Salary: Surrey pay S9-S10 dependent on experience (£41,586 - £47,142 FTE per annum, £20,488 - £25,836 pro rata)
Hours: 22 to 28 hours per week, term time only plus 3 weeks in the holidays (42 weeks), preferably Monday-Friday. This role is supported by an excellent office team including a Finance Assistant and HR Assistant.

Wallace Fields Junior School is seeking to recruit an experienced and highly skilled School Business Manager to join our successful school. Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will support the Headteacher and work closely with other leaders in order to ensure the strategic vision of the school is achievable and sustainable.
We are looking to appoint a strong candidate to provide vision, knowledge and expertise in all aspects of finance and business management.
The ideal candidate will:
1. Have experience of managing budgets and strategic financial planning, to balance the needs and aims of the school with sound financial planning and advice.
2. Be able to report effectively to different audiences including the Governing Body.
3. Have excellent IT skills, confident in using and implementing new technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness – currently using SIMS, FMS & Tucasi systems.
4. Lead with strong knowledge and understanding, in relation to management of financial procedures, HR and recruitment, and Health and Safety in a school setting.
5. Need to demonstrate strategic thinking, strong communication skills and a commitment to being a team player.
6. The applicant will hold a team leadership role, being responsible for the management and development of the administration team and the school’s caretaker.
7. Be able to work and maintain focus under pressure and to meet deadlines, with excellent organisational skills.
8. Have an advantage with previous school experience, and a finance or SBM qualification.
9. Have a friendly, willing, dedicated and positive persona, reflecting the ethos of our school.
