Overview Of The Role
Our Environment, Nature, and Consents business is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to contribute to a growing pipeline of exciting opportunities. The ESS team boasts over 100 professionals across 18 UK and Spain offices, delivering work across energy, ports, defence, water, rail, and urban development projects.
As part of this UK‑based role you will lead and coordinate environmental and sustainability workstreams from business case development to construction, advocating for environmental and social outcomes on behalf of clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead EIA screening and scoping, and produce Environmental Statements and other reports.
* Coordinate technical input from multidisciplinary specialists.
* Assist with monitoring programmes, resource allocation, and financial management of environmental projects.
* Support business development and proposal writing for environmental services.
* Maintain client liaison and stakeholder engagement.
* Mentor and line‑manage environmental team members.
* Develop an environmental technical specialism, in addition to coordination roles.
Candidate Specification
Essential Requirements
* Relevant academic or professional qualifications.
* Chartership recently achieved through IEMA, IES, CIWEM or similar, or demonstrable progress towards chartership.
* Experience in environmental assessment, EIA, SEA, UK environmental planning legislation, ESG, sustainability strategy, and appraisal development for infrastructure projects.
* Client‑facing experience with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
* Well‑organised with strong planning and management skills, capable of producing high‑quality deliverables and monitoring budgets and programmes.
* Experience working in diverse multidisciplinary teams and leading teams to high‑standard environmental and sustainability deliverables.
Desirable Experience
* Bid/tender delivery experience, including cost and quality responses.
* Experience with TWAO and/or DCO schemes, and in the Water, Defence, Energy, Marine, or Rail sectors.
* People management experience and support staff development.
* Confidence in delivering environmental and sustainability workshops or training, online or in person.
