Safeguarding and Wellbeing Manager (Designated Person)
Location: Tresham College – Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough Campuses
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £41,086 and £47,971 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Manager to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities
* Leadership & Team Management – Oversee safeguarding and wellbeing operations, manage staff induction, appraisals, and development, and model excellence in service delivery and collaboration.
* Safeguarding & Wellbeing Oversight – Work with DSL/DDSLs to ensure statutory compliance, respond promptly to concerns, maintain accurate CPOMS records, and lead Prevent and risk management processes.
* Mental Health & Student Support – Develop and manage wellbeing services, create signposting resources, and collaborate on curriculum content for key themes such as British Values, Prevent, and sexual harassment.
* Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting – Build strong internal and external partnerships, attend regional/national meetings, and produce regular reports and data analysis on safeguarding trends and student outcomes.
* Statutory Responsibilities & Professional Development – Promote safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety, deliver staff training, and engage in continuous professional development in line with TBCG policies.
About You
* Qualifications & Technical Expertise – Level 3 DSL, degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience), management qualification (or willingness to achieve), GCSEs in English and Maths, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Safeguarding & Compliance Knowledge – Extensive experience managing safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults, strong understanding of Prevent and CONTEST strategies, and practical knowledge of CPOMS and EDI principles.
* Leadership & Decision-Making – Proven track record of leading high-performing teams, managing complex cases, and making timely, informed decisions under pressure.
* Communication & Interpersonal Skills – Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, ability to build strong relationships, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
* Values & Professional Responsibilities – Committed to student focus, high performance, and safeguarding; flexible, adaptable, and willing to travel, with a strong focus on continuous professional development and health & safety awareness.
