Graduate Facilities Management Engineer
Arup is a global consultancy that guides, plans and designs the future of the built environment. Our Facilities Management (FM) Consultants apply their specialist skills to building projects across the globe, providing expert advice on the aftercare of buildings, including strategic and financial planning, technical services and operational support.
The role focuses on helping clients maximise the lifespan of their buildings through appropriate interventions, such as buildability, maintainability, zero waste, and re‑use. You will be involved in condition surveys, energy analyses, asset management, and strategy development to achieve carbon targets.
Responsibilities
* Conduct condition surveys and assess existing buildings
* Prepare report and contribute to strategies to help achieve carbon targets
* Create asset registers, maintenance specifications or tenders and procure maintenance contracts
* Audit compliance and statutory regulations for building operation and portfolio
* Audit maintenance contractors
* Perform life‑cycle assessments and costing
* Review designs for maintainability
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
* Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering (Bachelor’s also considered)
* Studying or have studied a IMechE, CIBSE or Engineering Council accredited course
* Desire and plan to work towards CEng and full membership of a recognised professional institution
* Strong Excel skills and knowledge of databases; experience or knowledge of AutoCAD
* Comfortable with presentation aids such as Power BI and digital formats
* Interest in developing digital tools to automate processes
* Enthusiastic about assisting clients to maximise the life of building assets
* Creative, inquisitive problem‑solver with a proactive attitude
* Examining ways to improve existing processes for efficiencies
