Your Role: Machining Specialist
As a Machining Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our operations by setting up and operating both computer numerically controlled and manual machines. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Read and interpret process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements.
* Download programs from a DNC storage system and interpret work instructions.
* Select and install the appropriate tooling for various operations.
* Calculate feeds and speeds for different materials, including steel, copper, and aluminum.
* Perform quality inspections and apply Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance productivity.
* Visually inspect final components and ensure they meet quality standards.
* Engage in continuous improvement activities and maintain a clean working environment.
* Work rotating shifts to meet production demands.
What We’re Looking For:
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
* In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and a time-served background in machining.
* Health and Safety awareness, with experience in the oil and gas industry preferred.
* Familiarity with machine control systems such as Fanuc, Mazak, Heidenhain, and Haas.
* Experience with precision inspection equipment, including micrometers and calipers.
* A proven ability to maintain tight machining tolerances of less than .0025mm.
* Strong self-motivation and facilitation skills to inspire teamwork.
* A positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
* HNC Engineering preferred.
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a lean-manufacturing environment.
