Job overview

We areseeking outstandingindividualsto join our Board as a Non-Executive Directorand Associate Non-Executive Director’s. Non-ExecutiveDirectors bringan independent perspective,supportand challenge to help shape the future of the Trust into the next stage in its evolution. We have an ambition to increase diversity at Board level andwould welcomeapplications from individuals from under-represented groups.

As aDirector, you will work alongside the Chair, other Non-ExecutiveDirectorsand Executive Directors of the Foundation Trust. You will share responsibility with the other Board directors for the success of theorganisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Your role will be to use your skills and your personal experience to:

* contribute to the development of the Trust’s strategy and business planningprocesses;
* play your part in ensuring the Trust’s compliance with its regulatoryframework;
* helpensurethattheBoardsetschallenginggoalsandobjectivesforhealthservicesandformeetingtargetsfor treatment;
* monitortheperformanceoftheexecutiveteamindeliveringthecorporateobjectives,includingkeytargetssetboth nationally and locally;
* ensurethattheBoardalwaysactsinthebestinterestsofpatientsandthewiderpublic,andthatfullaccountistakenof advice received from the Council ofGovernors;
* ensure that management systems are in place to giveaccurateinformation to the Board including information about patientsafetyandexperience,financialandoperationalperformance,workforceissues,riskmanagement,clinicalqualityand value formoney;
* ensurethattheTrustpromotesequalityofopportunityandhumanrightsinthetreatmentofitsstaffandpatients;
* represent the Board at officialoccasions;
* participatein the appointment of the Chief Executive and other executivedirectors.

Person specification


Experience

* High personal credibility, evidenced through experience of operating at a senior level in an organisation with significant budgets and complexity


Experience

* A record of high calibre leadership and delivery, in an executive or non-executive capacity
* High-level organisational and governance skills, including for instance strategic planning, risk management, performance management, service commissioning, service delivery and development, quality management, patient/client representation
* Political acumen – ability to grasp relevant issues underpinned by an understanding of how to develop partnerships and build relationships with other organisations
* Evidence of creative thinking and contributing to innovation
