About the role
This is a pivotal leadership role within our Legal and Governance team. You’ll provide operational leadership for our Information Governance and Corporate Complaints functions, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and embedding a culture of trust and continuous improvement. Your work will safeguard information, manage organisational risk, and use insights from complaints to shape better services for citizens.
What You'll Do
* Lead and develop a high-performing team delivering information governance and complaints services.
* Oversee compliance with GDPR, FOI, EIR, and related legislation, acting as Deputy Data Protection Officer.
* Manage complex and escalated complaints, ensuring fair and evidence-based resolutions.
* Collaborate across the organisation to ensure the customer voice informs service design.
* Represent the organisation at statutory committees and liaise with regulators, including the ICO.
* Drive continuous improvement through robust performance monitoring and actionable insights.
About you
* Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
* Professional qualification or advanced training in information governance (e.g., GDPR Practitioner, FOI Practitioner).
* Extensive experience leading information governance in a politically complex environment.
* Strong understanding of statutory frameworks and complaints handling processes.
* Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver pragmatic outcomes under pressure.
