Flexibility to work 07:30–16:30 may be discussed). 30-minute unpaid break Salary: £40,000–£45,000 basic salary OTE: £60,000–£70,000 (including overtime and call-out) About the Company Our client is a well-established and reputable electrical contractor based in Essex, delivering high-quality electrical, fire, and security services across Essex, Kent, and London. They work across domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors, maintaining a strong reputation for reliability, safety, and workmanship. The Role This is a fully mobile position working from home and travelling daily to customer sites within a practical commuting radius. While most work will be local to your home location, flexibility is required to cover Essex, London, Kent, and Hertfordshire when needed. You will carry out a mixture of reactive maintenance, installations, rewires, and testing. The role requires someone confident working independently in a “one engineer per van” environment, maintaining high technical standards and delivering excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities Reactive maintenance and fault finding Electrical alterations and installations Consumer unit replacements Full and partial rewires Installation of EV charging units Electrical testing, including EICRs and associated remedial works Accurate completion of certification and documentation (test certificates, risk assessments, etc.) Requirements Proven experience in reactive/jobbing electrical work within domestic and commercial environments A strong background in EICR testing would be advantageous; however, training and support will be provided to obtain the 239 qualification if not already held. Fault diagnosis and remedial works (essential) Qualifications Minimum Level 2 Electrical qualification 18th Edition Part P Advantageous Level 3 Electrical qualification 2391 (Testing & Inspection) Gold JIB card (ideal, not essential) EICR experience Experience: At least 2 years’ experience independently carrying out: Fault finding and diagnostics Rewires3. Consumer unit installations EICR remedial works (bonus) Other Requirements: Confident working independently without supervision Professional and customer-focused approach (comfortable working in occupied homes) Organised, tidy, and presentable Strong problem-solving skills and confident decision-making on site Must be over 25 years old (insurance requirement) Must supply own basic hand tools (specialist tools provided) Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points) Willing and able to travel daily within approximately a one-hour radius Call-Out / On-Call: Participation in an on-call rota (currently 1 week in 6, with frequency expected to decrease as the team grows), paid door-to-door at overtime rates. • £20 first call-out • £10 subsequent call-outs after returning home What’s on Offer • Company van, uniform, and tablet provided • Travel compensation for journeys exceeding one hour each way (flat rate) • Mileage: First 15 miles unpaid, £0.12 per mile thereafter Overtime Rates: • After 40 hours: Weekdays: 1.5x, Saturday: 1.5x, Sunday/Bank Holidays: 1.5x, Night work: 2x Holiday & Benefits: • 28 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays) birthday day • Company pension scheme Pay: Weekly or monthly pay • Monthly paid on the last day of the month (one week held in arrears) What’s next?
