Deputy Education Safeguarding Officer
Temporary covering maternity leave initially until 31/03/2026
Full Time: 37 hours per week
We are currently seeking a Deputy Education Safeguarding Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the directorate and the education safeguarding officer by promoting safeguarding awareness and standards across the directorate. Responsibilities include providing expert advice to schools and education professionals, developing safeguarding policies, and delivering training to headteachers, safeguarding officers, and governors.
The main duties include monitoring pupils on part-time timetables, conducting safeguarding reviews, assessing outside organizations involved with schools, and cross-referencing support plans like the Pastoral Support Programme (PSP).
The ideal candidate will be passionate about safeguarding, committed to protecting children and young people, and capable of establishing trust, challenging practices when necessary, and maintaining confidentiality.
Requirements include experience working with schools and families, knowledge of child protection procedures, and experience in safeguarding roles. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to analyze complex cases, write detailed reports, and collaborate with statutory agencies to enhance multi-agency partnership working.
