Kent is looking for a Senior Project Manager who will manage an entire project team including project engineering managers, projects engineers, engineering disciplines, project services and third parties. The role is accountable for delivering the major/complex FEED and/or Detailed Design project or part of a major project in accordance with the contract, within budget and plan and to agreed corporate and client HSSE and Quality standards.
Skills & Responsibilities
* Manages, and is responsible for, the successful delivery of FEED, Detailed Design projects and EPCM projects. Ensures Project is executed to HSSE, Quality, Contract, Commercial (Delivery of defined Project Margin) and Schedule requirements, with focus on Client satisfaction.
* Supports business winning activities and may be required to lead major proposals.
* Provides Leadership in HSSE and QA/QC. Approves Project HSSE and QA/QC project plans and monitors effective implementation. Supports Project and Corporate Quality Audits where necessary in relation to QA/QC and HSSE.
* Engages with Kent Quality and/or Project Management Office (PMO) for Project Start‑Up audits and stage gate reviews.
* Ensures KMS is successfully implemented in project execution and leads engagement with the Kent Project Delivery Assurance (PDA) Group throughout the project lifecycle.
* Establishes and manages the required resources for the Project, including staffing, office facilities, IT infrastructure and IM strategy, regularly reviews the demobilisation plans of the workforce and project progress to minimise cost and overheads wherever possible.
* Approves the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and subsidiary coordination procedures for the project and stage gate reviews. Ensures effective implementation and supports Project and Corporate Quality Audits where necessary.
* Manages the establishment of the Fully Integrated Project Schedule and internal/external progress monitoring and reporting (in accordance with Kent KMS procedures and/or Client specific requirements). Manages project personnel to ensure progress monitoring is effective, enabling control of the project budget.
* Ensures that a change management process is administered and that corrective action is agreed and implemented at the appropriate level, as and when variations from plans occur.
* Is responsible for all management, commercial and technical decisions relating to the project. Consults with Project Sponsor and/or Director of Projects on major issues relating to the contract or Company relationship and implementation of recommendations for resolution.
* Ensures that the Main Contract, Supply Chain Contracts and Subcontracts are correctly administered and change management / variations management is managed and controlled in accordance with Contract requirement.
* Is responsible for the establishment and ongoing effective supervision of the entire project team, engaging with direct reports ensuring delegation of supervision is adequately controlled and administered.
* Provides leadership to ensure technical reviews such as HAZOP, HAZID, value engineering, design integrity, 3D Model reviews are conducted to suitable quality and robustness.
* Oversees the effective coordination between Kent and Clients, Engineering, Sub‑Contractors and any other external or internal agency.
Your knowledge, skills, education and experience
* Extensive relevant industry experience.
* Demonstrable experience of delivering FEED and/or EPC phase Detailed Design projects as a Project Manager within the Oil and Gas and/or New Energy and/or Renewable Industry.
* Preferable (but not essential) for candidates to have a blend of FEED and EPC experience.
* Degree educated in an Engineering related field; Masters and Chartered Status preferred.
* Membership/Qualification from an accredited Management institution such as PMI and/or APM preferred.
* Strong leadership and people‑management skills with a proven ability to positively motivate/influence project delivery and build high‑performing integrated teams for both the home office execution teams and our exceptional Global Engineering Centres.
* Delegate authority and responsibility effectively.
* Shows enthusiasm for the development of personnel within the Project team, supporting Project team members to achieve their defined personal and career development plan.
* Commercially focused, with demonstrable ability to manage cost forecasting and deliver Project margins, managing Project Change effectively.
* Excellent knowledge of Planning and Project Controls systems; utilising analytical data for status assessment and/or decision making.
* Appreciation of FEED and EPC contracts; and ability to cascade requirements to discipline teams and direct reports. Engages Commercial group as required.
Communication
* Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
